| Vriksha |
Vriksha is Sanskrit for “tree” and is the name of UMT’s signature
project. Members come together as a community of forward-thinking environmental
stewards who immediately make the world a better place by planting trees and
reforesting the earth.
Planting a tree is one the best ways UMT members immediately change our world
for the better. Trees are among the largest living entities on earth. The
greatness of a tree comes from what it gives to the world. The more a tree gives
of itself, the greater it becomes. The greatness and naturally giving aspects of
trees inspire UMT members. |

Where We Work
Our mother earth is in despair. The last time I spoke to her I was still young,
and her mesmerizing intimacy is something that feels so distant to me now. The
last time I hugged her was when everything I saw, everything I touched, was
awe-inspiring. That was as a child, since then I had put away childish things,
believing that was the mature thing to do. Where is our love? Where is our
connection to this earth, our mother? She waits for us, with the compassion that
every mother has. What did we achieve by throwing that away? It isn’t mature to
no longer be able to empathize with the world. To not be able to see how another
being feels.
But now my heart is hard; this desensitized, flippant, cold thing I call being
an adult is an agony of immense loneliness. Even among friends I feel alone. I
think we all feel like that often, I can empathize with your pain. It is a
torment that has captured humanity.
